Copa ONA in El Yaque

The past weekend another Windsurf and Kite Contest of the venezuelan Windsurf Tour took Place in El Yaque. The Copa ONA 2009, with Long Distance Slalom Races, Freestyle, best trick Contest and many many Juniors..... The Windsurf Slalom became the main part of the Event with 9 long Distance races.... In all races it came to a showdown between national Champion Alexis Carache and Gollito Estredo, batteling hard for the first place with heavyweight Carache having a little advantage, so he won 7 and Estredo two Races.... In overall Carache 1st , Estredo 2nd..... Gollito Estredo inscribed also in all Kitecompetitions and he managed to win the Kite long distance race..... before he also won the Windsurf Freestyle in front of Cheo Diaz, who performed a Double Forward Loop on Flatwater.... Yoli de Brendt won the women Freestyle and ex women Freestyle Worldchampion Colette Guadagnino got the women Slalom crown.......

Magic Fun in Africa.....

windy Jibe Week in El Yaque....

Already the last weeks it has been finally windy in El Yaque and after two rainy and stormy days, the wind has stabilized right for the Windsurf labor Jibe Week.... good enough for the 4,7 and 4,2... Jibing weather !!!

Stormy weather....

It´s been windy for the 4,7 and 4,2 the past days, weeks.. finally, after long long waiting to finally have a go with the smaller sails and boards.. even it´s been quite flat it´s been funny.. especially watching Freestyle Worldchampion Gollito Estredo performing his moves more and more radical and getting a new move almost every single day...... today we sailed a huge storm with some rain and wind for the 4,0 for maybe one hour.... remembered me at the good old north sea days.. only without waves..... i´m looking forward to be in waves again pretty soon.... at our wave special in Moulay - Morocco from the 20th to the 25th of May.... if also you want to join, you´re more than welcome..... just ask for more info at travel@fanatic-boarderscenter.com !!!!

El Yaque´s Semana Santa is getting quiet......

Surprise surprise, we were all expecting a typical El Yaque Semana Santa, with a packed Beach, full of Party People, massive car traffic and lots of noise, hard or impossible for any Windsurfer to go on the water.....
2009 was totally different, the beach looked more like during an average sunday at the semana santa week, no trouble for Windsurfers, who could even leave their gear at the beach without worries..... Nice to see El Yaque is going back to the roots.... ;-)

A Dwarf goes Austria.......

once upon a time..... seven dwarfs.... etc etc.. you might know the story.... but you know the 8th Dwarf already..... The Dwarf8 goes Austria, as main Sponsor for the 2009 Dwarf8 Windsurf Worldcup in Podersdorf..... If you haven´t tried the Dwarf8 yet... you have too.... you´ll love it !!!!!

silence before the storm....

SEMANA SANTA.... some magic words.. thousands of party people will invade the little caribbean viallge once again for a couple of days, partying hard and maybe watching twice as much windsurfers flying over the water... the peoplke have not arrived yet... but it is the silence before the storm ?? maybe, the wind has already arrived for the 5,0 and 4,7 metre sails.. and i´m pretty sure we will not need to wait much longer for the crowds to arrive too.... i´ll keep you updated....
